Effect of Alcornea cordifolia Aqueous and Methanolic Leaf Extracts against Antituberculosis Drugs Induced Liver Damage in Rats

The hepatoprotective properties of Alchornea cordifolia, a medicinal plant was studied in hepatotoxicity induced animal model with high dose paracetamol or carbon tetrachloride. Knowing that antituberculosis drugs also represent risk factor for hepatotoxicity, could A. cordifolia play key role to limit their hepatotoxicity? objective this study assess the histological changes rat livers and evolution after administration an aqueous methanolic leaf extracts therefore estimate polyphenol flavonoid contents. Rats were divided into three (3) groups: group 1 treated isoniazid; 2 received combination isoniazid rifampicin 3 given isoniazid, pyraziamide.
